We are all so busy in our lives and business working selflessly taking care of and serving others, so why do some of us see it as selfish to take care of ourselves?

Have you ever heard the phrase ‘you can’t pour from any empty cup’

All through life we are taught to put the needs of others first and whilst this is important we need to recognise when we are caring so much for others that we are not taking care of ourselves.

When we forget to take care of ourselves our internal tank starts to run low and eventually empties.  Leading us to reach a shuddering halt…..often with quite a lot of smoke and drama.

So what simple things can we do to take care of ourselves and keep us from running on empty?

• Go for a walk or just get outside.  Breathe in the fresh air and take some time in nature.
• Take a soak in the bath (don’t forget to light a candle)
• Get creative – journal, play some music or even just dance around the room!
• Take time to sit down and enjoy a nice meal
• Go for lunch with a friend or simply give them a call and chat on the phone
• Practice gratitude
• Take time to be present in the Moment.
